Sumac Marinaded Red Onions

These onion are better then you can imagine! They are such a delicious, bright, flavorful accompaniment to pitas, sandwiches and salads. Plus they last for weeks in the fridge. I found this recipe in The Mediterranean Dish by Suzy Karadesh. She has inspired many dishes of mine!

Sumac Red Onions!

  • Prep time: 10 minutes
  • Total time: 2 hours
  • Serves: 10 servings

Add a pop of flavor and color to your pitas, sandwiches and more!


  • 1 sliced red onion
  • 1/2 c red wine vinegar
  • 3 T sumac
  • 1 T salt
  • 1/4 c chopped parsley

    Add all ingredients together and pop into the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.  The longer they sit the better they get!
